The Sheikh Zayed Private Academy library service supports the school’s mission and the educational and recreational needs of students and staff through a network of libraries.
The main library which serves Grades 4 -12 houses materials in a variety of formats and provide access to print materials, computers, the internet, daily papers, journals and digital learning resources.
The Primary library serves the KG – Grade 3 students and provides access to print materials, computers and the internet. All resources are centrally processed and listed on the Destiny library catalogue. The catalogue can be searched remotely and resources may be requested from any site.
The School Librarians support subject teachers and their students by encouraging independent lifelong learning skills through research assistance and information literacy programs. An appreciation and enjoyment of literature is promoted through literature clubs, author visits and reading activities.
The library service is committed to the development of independent learners able to locate, retrieve, assess and utilise information with library skills taught from KG – 6. The libraries provide a friendly, supportive and resource rich environment for students. School librarians work collaboratively with students and staff at all levels. The development of literacy and a love of reading are priorities. The effective use of technology is promoted.
The libraries are open from 7.00 am until 3.30 pm each school day with designated areas provided for group work, research, reading classes, and private study.
